Mindelo en Santo Antão

Sailing towards Mindelo overnight, the (Christmas)stars were bright as no moon was to be seen. As we dropped anchor in the morning, there was time to visit the city and have lunch in our cooks mate Edson’s restaurant ashore.

We had an early morning breakfast the next day, to catch the 7 o’clock ferry to Santo Antão. The island is amazing. Volcano crater, steep donkey trails between crops planted on every edge available. Although it hasn’t rained in three years, here you get an idea why it was called Cabo Verde! Our next destination is São Nicolau, a daysail away.
