“Most of the people on board are just halfway through their voyage, both in time and distance. The Ushuaia Six, half the crew and the epic cooks, are the longest underway and are primary on their way home. This gives only one compromise: to visit a pub as soon as possible. If they have beer, we’ll have a party!
To make travel more pleasant, below decks people can play games like Uno, fill out quizzes and listen to talks about several subjects. On deck sailing is the occupation, while ’too much sail’ is non-existent. We again hoisted the breefok, the square downwind sail, first time since the coast of Argentina and even the storm jib is used as a catcher. This way we use the strength of the winds as much as possible.
A small number of swallows is not going to make ‘summer’ somewhere up north. After landing on our deck they’ll suffer from sea sickness and most of them will not have survived this rendez-vous. Although sailing with the ‘Oosterschelde’ is something nice to do, before sleeping with the fishes.
Right now the isle of Ushant (Île d’Ouessant) has been sighted and we are getting ready to enter the English Channel and to leave the Atlantic Ocean, surrounded by many big and bigger ships going the same way: Rotterdam.”
