Neptune’s visit

Update by Maarten:
“I am happy to say that we all survived the initiation into Neptune’s realm yesterday, although it was touch and go for some. King Neptune and his helper Diablo were in good form, although I would like to mention to his seanimphs upon occasion that they should give the old man more sex and less lobster. His Roundness was in fine form and maybe his girth has caused him to become mellower with age. We were made to run the gauntlet, the details I will spare you, but the ingredients were lots of seawater, tar, feathers, self-raising flower and yesterday’s chilli con carne with strands of spaghetti thrown in for good measure. We sure attracted lots of fish once we were shoved overboard to swim the notional mile across the equator. Afterwards we cleaned ourselves as best as we could and His Salty Majesty treated us to a party on deck as he himself descended into an alcohol induced happy state before descending in turn into his realm, to which we are now welcome. Hopefully not too welcome because we would like to reach land again at some stage.
We are now well and truly in the doldrums and the trade winds have left us. Surprisingly we have been treated to light airs from the southwest so we are motor sailing at a great rate of knots in the right direction.”
